In part two of our three-part series looking at commercial photography, we look at business photography, including corporate portraits.

Every business has a story. Business photography conveys that story—the heart and soul of an organization—in a visual way.

“We’re telling that story through photographs,” says Jacob Pace, Turell Group’s senior photographer.

The narrative aspect of business photography—also sometimes called corporate photography— is what sets it apart from other types of commercial photography that might focus solely on the product. How a business came to be, the inspirations of its founders and the dedication of the people who make the story unique.

“A business is its people,” Jacob says. “We’re showing how the human element is at play in all parts of the business.”

Through professional photography, we can help businesses tell their story in a way that words alone can’t.

Making Introductions

At Turell Group, we specialize in portraying people at the core of a business through photographs and video. It’s a way to introduce the people who make up the business to new audiences and share what inspires them and why they do what they do.

We do this by showing doctors meeting with their patients; grocers stocking aisles and talking with customers; bankers discussing financial options with clients; volunteers working together at a nonprofit, sewing bags together that will be filled with essentials for kids in need.

Portraying those authentic interactions tells a story, which in turn helps build trust with potential clients and current customers. Those who might be interested in your business begin to get to know you and your team before you even meet.

In this way, by showing your team and being true to a company’s identity, culture and values, we can help build and solidify a business’ brand and customer relationships.

Professional Portraits

A key part of business photography is showing people at their best, which can be accomplished with professional lighting and expert techniques. Photographic expertise can help enhance the overall image of the people who are integral to your business in ways you might not realize.

We understand, however, that those people who do all the important work that goes into a business might feel hesitant about being photographed, which is another good reason to work with a professional photographer. Not only do we know how to create a photograph, but we also know how to create an environment that puts people at ease in front of a camera.

A big part of bringing out the best in people is to help them get past what they perceive as visual, Jacob says. He encourages his photographic subjects to accept, move past and even embrace their perceived “imperfections.”

“It’s not about removing the imperfections that make them who they are,” he says. “What I honestly find beautiful about humans are our imperfections. They’re wonderful.”

The portraits and corporate headshots we take for our clients have countless uses, whether they are taken to be used for your website, social media accounts, virtual meetings, speaking panels and presentations, press releases for things like promotions, and much more. They can also be used by other organizations for which employees volunteer their time, like serving on nonprofit boards or committees.
