When you travel, it’s fun exploring new places—but why not spend a day exploring the communities in your own backyard? Our team did just that when we did some sightseeing in Springfield, Coburg and Creswell as part of a team-building scavenger hunt recently. We had a blast, met a lot of interesting people and enjoyed new and familiar spots and some great food and drink. We broke into teams and used the scavenger hunt app Goose Chase, and it was wild!

The people we approached were kind enough to play along as we sought to fulfill random quests, such as finding a couple who had been married the longest, searching for the oldest book in town and learning about local history.

For example, did you know Coburg boasts a UFO “crash site” right outside one of the town’s antique stores? In Springfield, its historic Depot, built in the 1890s, was actually moved several blocks in 1989 from in its original location. And in Creswell, the town boasts a huge centennial quilt that took a group over a year to make!

During our explorations, we had lunch at fantastic local eateries, and not only learned about each of the beautiful places we visited, but more about each other. One of the services we do for clients includes improving internal communications, and this type of activity is not only a lot of fun but a great way to build bonds, prevent burnout and get to know each other better. All in all, getting out and about is a great way to spend the day!
